Helicore Octave violin strings are designed to be played one octave below traditional violin tuning for a new world of tonal and stylistic possibilities. The Helicore Octave violin set utilizes the same core technologies as the original Helicore violin set; it is crafted with a multi-stranded steel core, resulting in optimal playability while producing a clear, warm tone. The smaller string diameter provides quick bow response. Premium quality materials combined with skilled workmanship produces strings known for excellent pitch stability and longevity.
Scaled to fit a 4/4 size violin with a playing length of 13 inches (328mm), these medium tension strings are optimized to the needs of a majority of players.

I haven’t bought any of the other octave string sets available out there, so I can’t really compare this to any other set, but I am definitely happy with these strings. And when it comes to the price, at least from I could find, there’s no comparison. I just bought my second set.

These are easy to put on, (they are just strings) though you may need to enlarge a tuning peg hole to feed the string end through , or maybe a different fine tuner to accommodate the string width which is substantial, . Once on, they are simply a hoot to play.

I needed octave violin strings with 2 days notice. The strings aren’t that widely available, and to get them on short notice I thought would be costly. SW Strings had them in stock, and when I phoned them up, their friendly & helpful staff said the strings would go out the same day, and that 2-day air would only cost $5. I have ordered from them before and will continue ordering from them in the future. Highly recommended!
