  2. Good strings but kind of bright sounding

    Robert (verified owner)

D’Addario keeps trying to make a good thing better and in the process has produced a string that will last, is coated without feeling so but also has a tinny sound, an annoyingly bright finish to the note. Their original J-74 mandolin string is the least this way, the EXP-74 was ever so slightly more tinny but still punchy, now the XT has pushed the sound a little too far. These strings will no doubt last longer, and are supposed to be less prone to breakage but the sound has gotten brighter. If you are looking for a brighter mandolin these are your strings.
